Further Introductions to Birdwatching: Early Spring Birds

Join us on this highly practical and enjoyable programme aimed at beginners and those with limited experience

Organised in conjunction with the Manx Ornithological Society, we’ll:

- show you the basics of how to best observe birds
- share hints and tips on how to recognize the main groups of birds
- give you recommendations on which equipment and books to use

Throughout the course you’ll get to know like-minded people with whom you’ll be able to share your interest and develop your knowledge further.

Tim Earl will be your course leader, supported by Manx BirdLife and members of the MOS. Tim is a highly experienced local and international birdwatching guide.

Starting on Thursday 11th April, the programme comprises three evening classroom-based sessions (7.00-9.00pm approx.) plus three weekend morning outdoor sessions at birdwatching hot spots around the Isle of Man. (Please note that field trips are subject to weather conditions so some flexibility is required.)

The programme schedule is as follows:

Thu 11th April 7.00pm eve class, St. Andrew's Church, Douglas
Sun 14th April  8.00am field trip – time and location to be agreed with the group
Thu 18th April 7.00pm eve class, St. Andrew's Church, Douglas
Sat 20th April 8.00am field trip – time and location to be agreed with the group
Thu 25th April 7.00pm eve class, St. Andrew's Church, Douglas
Sun 28th April 8.00am field trip – time and location to be agreed with the group

For the evening classes, St. Andrew's Church is located on Glencrutchery Road next to the traffic lights by St. Ninian's (at the junction of Ballaquayle Road, Ballanard Road, Glencrutchery Road and Bray Hill) in Douglas.

The course fee is £35.00 per person (including all classes and field trips). Places are strictly limited so please book early to avoid disappointment!
