The Atlantic Rainforest of Brazil has lost more than 90% of its original forest cover, placing many of its native species at risk. This evening’s talk explores the work of Parque das Aves, a bird park and conservation centre near Iguassu Falls that welcomes nearly one million visitors each year. The talk will examine how the organisation has developed its conservation work, particularly in response to the decline and loss of some of Brazil’s most threatened bird species, including the Purple-winged Ground Dove. Presenting the talk is Dr Carmel Croukamp, who served as CEO of Parque das Aves from 2014 to 2024 and is Head of Engagement at Manx Wildlife Trust.
