Grass and heather moor, conifer plantation. Recent planting of deciduous woodland

This upland area features a mix of grass and heather moorland, conifer plantations, and recently planted deciduous woodland, creating a diverse habitat for wildlife. Park beside Sartfell Plantation and explore the area by walking up either the west or east side. From there, you can head toward Sartfell to the west and follow the footpath north to reach the summit of Slieau Freoghane, offering expansive views and excellent birdwatching opportunities. The area supports a variety of species, including Red Grouse, gull colonies on both Sartfell and Slieau Freoghane, and Short-eared Owl.
